I am sometimes asked for book suggestions on the subject of acupuncture and/or alternative healing. So, in that spirit, I would like to offer a small list of books that I recommend here.
I suggest checking back now and then as I will likely continue to add books as I think of them.
- Voices of Qi, by Alex Holland MAc, LAc
(a good introductory guide to Chinese medicine for the layperson)
. - The Web That Has No Weaver, by Ted J Kaptchuck OMD
(an informative, but slightly dry, book with all manner of pulse, point and theory info; this book is more for those interested in diving a bit deeper into the medicine)
. - Between Heaven and Earth, by Harriet Beinfeld and Efrem Korngold
(a good introduction to the “Five Element” approach to acupuncture)
. - The 7 Healing Chakras, by Brenda Davies MD
(one of the better books that breaks down the chakras; location, function and how to balance them; the author also provides useful tools and exercises in working with your energy centers in a grounded, clear and intelligent voice)
. - The Wisdom of Your Face, by Jean Haner
(A wonderfully insightful and useful book – Jean Haner offers workshops all over the country)
. - Face Reading in Chinese Medicine, by Lillian Bridges
(Another wonderfully informative book on the subject)
. - Feng Shui Demystified, by Clear Englebert
(a good basic introductory book about feng shui that offers practical advice and guidance)
