Who is Maya Vajra LAc/LEAMP?

(pronounced M.EYE-yah . VAH-zhrah).

If, after viewing my video and reviewing my qualifications on this page,  please feel free to contact me with any questions you have as I will be happy to address them.

First off, what does LAc or LEAMP mean?  LAc is the abbreviation for Licensed Acupuncturist.  This title has recently been replaced in the state of Washington with LEAMP, which stands for Licensed East Asian Medicine Practitioner.  Both assignations are allowable under state law and I choose to use both as a means of assisting people in their understanding during the transition of terminology.

So… the  nuts and bolts;

My Qualifications;

  • I have studied and practiced energy work since 1989
    .
  • I am a Master of Acupuncture graduate of the Northwest Institute of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine since 2002 (Seattle)
    .
  • I am licensed by WA state to practice East Asian Medicine
    .
  • I am national board certified by the NCCAOM (http://nccaom.org/)
    .
  • I am a certified specialist in acupuncture detoxification by the National Acupuncture Detoxification Association
    .
  • I have community work experience offering acupuncture to homeless youth, inmates in low-security prison and patients of a detox/methadone clinic as well as for homeless or “at risk” women.
    .
  • I have two years tribal health experience offering acupuncture to the Sauk-Suiattle Indian Tribe of Washington.
    .
  • Additionally, I have several years work experience in the western medical arena in the following positions; Certified Nurse Assistant, Certified Phlebotomist, Lab Tech, administrative support for ER, Radiology, Medical Records, Lab & Neuroskeletal Imaging.

In addition to the general practice of Chinese medicine, my areas of special focus are the treatment of pain, digestive issues/disorders, personal transitions, as well as women’s health, stress/nervous system challenges and post-operative support.  I have helped many people suffering from repetitive strain injuries and long-held pain patterns as well as those contending with the challenging after-effects of car accidents and sports injuries .  Not only is acupuncture effective at treating various forms of pain, it is also a means to establishing and maintaining good health and balance.  It has been of great benefit to people seeking support with all manner of health challenges.  If you are unsure if acupuncture is an appropriate option for you, call to set up a free 15 minute phone consultation and I will be happy to talk with you about your situation.

Please note:  I am greatly interested in working with individuals experiencing what is known as Phantom Limb Syndrome.

My philosophy is one of good communication between patient and practitioner.  I believe my role is to facilitate you to your optimal well-being and believe your empowerment is an important aspect of treatment.  It is your body and your life.  You ultimately make the daily choices that influence your well-being.  I do my best to work with you in the most effective manner for you.

I utilize acupuncture, acupressure, moxibustion, sound therapy, energy work/qi gong, cupping, gua sha and dietary/lifestyle advice to assist in the healing/balancing process; whichever combination best serves your needs.

Have a question?  Give me a call at (206) 300-1530 between 10am & 7pm.

I have office hours Tuesday through Saturday (off Sun/Mon).
